Brief:

The Barrel is a short, humorous 3D animation project that explores the art of translating real-world movements into a rigged digital character. Created in Maya, the project utilized the Malcolm rig developed by Anima School, institution known for its advanced character rigging systems and contributions to animation education.

The animation tells the story of a construction worker attempting—unsuccessfully—to relocate a heavy barrel in a half-built building. The character’s exaggerated movements and struggles were carefully choreographed based on real-life video references, allowing for a detailed study of body mechanics and how they translate through a 3D rigging system.

To bring the scene to life, I conducted several test renders using V-Ray, experimenting with lighting, textures, and overall visual quality. Render processwas paused in Fall 2022 due to the hardware problems.
